EVERYONE’S favourite lovable fool is cashing in on the NFT craze, with Mr Bean set to be turned into a series of NFTs.

Artwork of the iconic British character will be made into non-fungible tokens which will go on sale later this month.

In total, 3,333 individual collectables will be available to purchase.

The idea was first touted by the production company that controls the Mr Bean brand, and was signed off by the character’s actor and creator, Rowan Atkinson.

The tokens will consist of images from the animated children’s series of the character.

The cartoon spin off came following the worldwide success of the original sitcom and from 2002 until 2019.

With Mr Bean boasting 15 billion YouTube views and 129 million Facebook followers, the creators of the comedy are convinced adopting NFTs makes natural sense.

Tom Beattie, Mr Bean’s executive producer, said: “To marry NFTs and Mr Bean is a no-brainer.

“Mr Bean lives in a digital world, and people don’t kind of realise that.

“This NFT feels like quite a natural step for us.”

The artwork will be sold on the NFT marketplace The Avenue and be available from May 25.

Owners of the collectables will receive Mr Bean branded clothing and also be entered into a competition to win a hand-drawn picture of the character, signed by Atkinson.

The actor signed off on the plans for his much beloved character, saying he would support any plans to keep Mr Bean relevant for the next generation.

“Any initiative which not only draws attention to but actually enables access to the fabulous artwork associated with the Mr Bean animation series, I welcome with open arms,” he said.
