Baron Davis

BARON DAVIS made his name after a number of years competing at the top level in American basketball but has since turned his attention to NFTs and Web 3.0.

So who is the ex-NBA player and what is his net worth?

Who is Baron Davis?

Baron Davis – affectionately known as B-Diddy- was born on April 13, 1979 in Los Angeles.

A keen basketball player as a child, he went on to star in the NBA after being urged to pursue his dreams by his grandmother.

He enrolled at the prestigious Crossroads private school in Santa Monica which allowed him to focus on basketball as well as his studies, before joining the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) on a sports scholarship.

Turning professional in 1999, in total Davis played 13 seasons in the NBA for six teams including the New Orleans Pelicans and Charlotte Hornets.

Baron Davis on NFTs

Among Baron Davis’s business ventures is a push into the Web 3.0 space, specifically around NFTs and the ability of blockchain technology to allow creators to talk directly to their fans.

Davis believes NFTs will become incredibly important for sports stars to interact with their supporters.

“Going forward, you’re gonna see more creative projects out of celebrities and athletes bringing you directly to their fanbase, to their ecosystem,” he said earlier this year.

Davis is setting up an NFT project called SLiC Images (Sports Living in Culture Images) to try and help boost the involvement of sports stars in the Web 3.0 sector.

He said that athletes were now making content in areas away from their primary careers that could be distributed via blockchain technology.

“When I was making beats and rapping, you couldn’t put out an album as a basketball player,” he said.

“Now, 20 different athletes have albums out and their fans support them.”

While SLiC Images aims to one day be a large platform that can be used as a production studio, community hub, publisher and streamer for those in the sports sector, Davis is making starting with photography.

He is looking to use SLiC Images initially to streamline the distribution and monetisation of sports photographs to help manage digital copyrights for freelancers.

What is Baron Davis’s net worth?

Baron Davis is thought to have a net worth of $60million.

Most of his net worth was made from his basketball career rather than from his other ventures, including the Web 3.0 sector.

When he retired from playing in the NBA, his salary was more than $31million a year.
