ROBLOX is hiring for 260 metaverse-related roles and is willing to pay up to $430,000 a year.

The San Mateo, California-based company is already one of the most successful players in the metaverse space and has nearly 50 million daily active users, with about a fifth of those under the age of 13.

Its vision is to build a metaverse where billions of people can come together to take part in games, meetings and collaborative work.

And to do that they need front-end engineers, back-end engineers, and full-stack engineers.

A software engineer at Roblox can earn between $141,000 and $215,000 excluding bonus and stock awards.

A senior software engineer can make up to $270,000, while an engineering director is paid $430,500.

Roblox’s chief technology officer, Daniel Sturman said: “We believe in a platform that’s going to bring billions of users together to share 3D experiences, and we’ve been doing this for over 15 years at this point.

“So, it’s been a long steady climb in this direction that that’s been going pretty well.”

He added: “I view my job as to provide the platform to this community, and then let their creativity figure out all the cool things they can do with it.”

The recruitment process isn’t for the faint hearted.

For entry-level positions, candidates need to send a resume and fill out an application.

A phone screening then follows and the candidates are invited to complete two tests: one cognitive, one technical.

The final round includes two technical interviews, an interview with a manager, and then a senior leader.

For senior hires there are two rounds of interviews: a tactical round with three technical interviews and an interview with a manager.

If successful, they then move onto the executive round and meet the director of the team, along with the vice president.

Roblox has the gaming part of the metaverse locked down and is dabbling in live events.

But the next challenge for the company is to convince people outside their core demographic of kids and teens to come into Roblox for new kinds of experiences.
