KHABIB NURMAGOMEDOV is finally facing Max Holloway today (Saturday, February, 12)… in the metaverse.
Nurmagomedov had teased a fight in the metaverse earlier this month when he announced his partnership with gaming company Legionfarm.
And Holloway confirmed the rumours on Twitter.
He said: “On February 12, Legion Farm, a place where gamers meet and play with PRO players, will be hosting an epic event.
“In Mozilla Hubs metaverse with the first metaverse fight in the history of the Earth between Khabib Nurmagomedov and me.
“And you are invited to witness it.
“Join the event personally right in the metaverse.
“You’ll get a chance to participate in a VR boxing match, speak face-to-face and take pictures with me and other special guests.”
The virtual ’bout’ will go ahead at 3pm EST (8pm UK time) and viewers will need to subscribe to Legionfarm Standart for $1 to watch it.
To enter the Legionfarm metaverse, users will need to own a Legionfarm NFT.
You can buy a Legionfarm NFT on a secondary marketplace such as OpenSea.
The current floor price (the cheapest NFT you can purchase) is 0.9ETH which equates to just shy of $3000.
The ‘quality’ of a fan’s NFT will dictate what they have access to.
Legionfarm said: “February 12 – save the date.
“We are partnering with Twitch to share this exciting moment with everyone. Feel the thrill of the fight, followed by the NFT Airdrop.
“Don’t miss your chance to become a Legionfarm NFT owner and get backstage access to our metaverse.
“Chat and play with celebrities in VR boxing games.
“To gain access to Legionfarm Metaverse and hang out with celebrities, pro players, and LF creators, you need to own or buy at least one LF NFT.”
What is Legionfarm?
Legionfarm lets gamers pay-to-play with pro players.
The company was founded by Alex Beliankin, who is a former pro gamer and was once in the top 0.1 per cent of World of Warcraft players.
Alex Beliankin said: “We let gamers pay to play together with the pro players, helping them have more fun in games and to find a good teammates.”
Competitive gamers can sign up to become a coach on the platform.
Legionfarm seeks out the very best and most skilled amateur players based on the publisher’s rankings and stats to become coaches.
These are people who aren’t making money via Twitch or a salary via an esports organisation, but are still in the top 0.1 percent of gamers by skill.
Less than the top 0.1 percent are accepted as coaches and told how to manage sessions.
Gamers can pay-to-play these coaches in hour-long increments.
Legionfarm allows users to specify if they want to play with two coaches, one coach and a friend, or one coach and another customer.
Legionfarm aims to create the largest number of monthly active jobs in the gaming industry by 2023.
How does Legionfarm work?
When a customer buys a session on the website, they join a Discord, which puts them in touch with the coaches and asks for their gamertag and the game they want to play.
The coaches then invite the customer to a lobby.
The average cost of a session is $12 per hour, with Legionfarm taking half of the revenue and the other half going to the coach.
Legionfarm currently has a number of titles to choose from, including Apex Legends, Fortnite, CoD, League of Legends, and Destiny 2.
