THE METAVERSE has official come to F1, with Alfa Romeo partnering up with Everdome to create new experiences.
The race car team is hoping to engage more with fans by working with the digital world platform.
Unlike Decentraland or The Sandbox, Everdome says its virtual world is “hyper-realistic”.
It claims: “When you take off your VR headset you won’t be able to tell what’s real and what’s not.”
The Alfa Romeo F1 Team ORLEN, as it is officially known, is the first racing team to look to take advantages of the metaverse.
It wants to use the virtual platform to better connect with fans.
Frédéric Vasseur, Team Principal Alfa Romeo F1 Team ORLEN said: “We are taking a massive step to enter the metaverse, and Everdome has the expertise and technology we need to create a new sports-viewing, immersive experience.

“Everdome will allow us to leverage the team’s intellectual property with ease, deploying a hyper-realistic experience that will elevate everyday life by blurring the lines between reality and verse existence.”
The racing firm are yet to unveil exactly what they intend to do with their new virtual existence.
However, Alfa Romeo could use the metaverse to give fans all around the world better access at events being hosted, including press conferences, new reveals, and specially put on events.
Sports brand Nike has already had huge success in operating in a similar fashion in Roblox.
It has received more than seven million visitors since opening in November.
It says events including a virtual basketball lesson from sports legend LeBron James helped to grow the firm’s digital presence.
Alfa Romeo F1 Team ORLEN and Everdome say their new partnership will “raise the bar for fan engagement” and will “add a futuristic dynamic to the traditional motorsports experience”.
Rob Gryn, CEO of Everdome said: “The synergy between sports and future technology has never been more apparent, whereas engaging with a brand’s community and fanbase are priority number one.
“We feel this partnership will provide an opportunity for both Alfa Romeo F1 Team ORLEN and Everdome to deliver for both communities.”
While Alfa Romeo are the first F1 team to join the metaverse, other sporting brands have also made a move.
Manchester City announced earlier this year they were working with Sony to build a virtual reality version of their home stadium, the Eithad, to allow fans from all over the world to enjoy watching games at the venue without leaving their own homes.
