Who is Evan Luthra?

Evan Luthra was born in 1995 in New Delhi, India.

In 2010, he founded EL Group International, which designed and developed mobile applications.

The company has worked with world-renowned corporations such as Google, Unilever, CitiGroup, Audi, as well as startups like ChillApp, Floqker, Zuntik, and RemedyForGlass.

Evan Luthra said: “I was bitten by the ‘digital bug’ aged around 12 when I started playing around on the computers in my dad’s call centre in India.

“I bought 200 computers and I pushed the machines to the limits by building microcomputers, really hitting the processor hard and trying new programs.

“I started taking them apart to learn how they worked then I began looking into code.”

As Luthra started to grow his business, he received a call from the late CEO of Apple, Steve Jobs who reached out to the then “starstruck” teenager to give him advice on Apple’s app store.

He said: “I was young and from India and didn’t have that much experience at the time and here I was, talking to Steve Jobs.

“He had a group call with all the early developers and asked us for feedback and what we thought about the app store. He also shared some advice with us for our businesses.”

“A lot of people doubted me and said I wouldn’t do well but when my company sold for seven figures, I got my revenge.”

Two years later, Luthra sold his company – which had developed more than 30 apps – for several million, aged just 17.

Luthra said: “A lot of people doubted me and said I wouldn’t do well but when my company sold for seven figures, I got my revenge.”
